It must be human nature. I compare each day fishing against the bad days (skunked) to the good days (caught some...meaning at least one) and the best days (great catches!)
Two weeks ago my son-in-law and I went to Sprague Lake, WA where we have always caught...until that day. Skunked even though, according to the fish finder, we could have waded on fish. So yesterday, the second day of the general season opener, we went to Deer Lake in Stevens County where we had one of our best days ever last year about this time with seven Rainbows in the 16"-18" range. Yesterday not as good with myself catching five (one of those escaped the net at the boat) and boated four in the 10"-11" range all released to grow for a better day. My son-in-law also caught several that were released but he did catch the keeper...a nice 16" Rainbow that is bound for the smoker.
A bad day? No. A good day? Yes. The best day? No...but it sure beat doing yard work around the house!
